Barrington drivers shopping for an electric truck will find two excellent options at the local GMC dealership: the 2025 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and the 2025 GMC Sierra EV. One is more affordable and offers a reliable driving range for long-haul trucking, while the other is packed with torque and technology for extreme off-roading.

Horsepower and Torque

While both electric trucks have impressive power outputs, the HUMMER EV Pickup takes the lead with its dual-motor setup, producing 570 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque in its base configuration. The HUMMER EV 3X Pickup takes things a step further with its tri-motor setup, zapping a best-in-class 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. For comparison, the more affordable Sierra EV’s two electric motors produce a maximum of 760 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque when properly equipped.

Acceleration and Towing Capacity

The torque-rich HUMMER EV Pickup dominates in acceleration and max trailering capacity. With its exclusive electric launch control system, Watts to Freedom, the EV 3X sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds. Meanwhile, the entry-level EV 2X offers the best towing capacity, which reaches a staggering 12,000 lbs.

However, this doesn’t mean that the Sierra EV is lacking in the performance department. The electric pickup truck sprints from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds with Max Power Mode and tows an impressive 10,500 lbs.

Off-Roading Capabilities

If you are looking for a capable off-roader, your options don’t get better than the HUMMER EV Pickup. The behemoth electric truck features a soaring ground clearance of 11.9 inches, skid plates and shields protecting the underbody, and 22-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Outer Diameter Goodyear tires. Standard off-roading technology includes Extract Mode, which increases ground clearance by 4 inches, and CrabWalk, which turns the rear wheels parallel to the front ones.

Only second to the HUMMER EV Pickup, the Sierra EV also comes with a number of off-roading technologies. Its Air Ride Adaptive Suspension allows you to increase ground clearance on demand, and engaging 4-Wheel Steer decreases the turn radius for tighter maneuvers. The truck also features CrabWalk, similar to the HUMMER EV Pickup.

Driving Range

The Sierra EV drives much further than most electric trucks in the market, even in its base configuration. The standard battery offers a reliable 390 miles of driving range, while the available Max Range Battery boosts this to an outstanding 460 miles. For comparison, the HUMMER EV Pickup drives up to 367 miles at the EV 3X trim level. This makes the Sierra EV the ideal choice for long-haul trucking, which often involves driving hundreds of miles on highways.
